Pandora
had been given her legendary name the night before her birth,
when her laboring mother received terrible visions of her
unborn child's insatiable curiosity. From an early age, she
had been confined to the grounds of her home, forbidden to
indulge in child's play or fantasies for fear it would spark
her curious nature. Pandora's only comfort was in her daily
history lessons, when she would learn about the free world,
and imagine she too lived among the heathens of former centuries.
Like the rebels in her history books, it was all too fitting
when she ran away from home and embarked on a new journey
of an archeological career.
In her efforts to rekindle man's love affair with history,
Pandora searched the ancient cities for evidence of past cultures,
hoping to bring to the 29th century at least one glorious
gift of forgotten euphoria. With each expedition, and each
new relic, Pandora's thirst grew. Night and day, she explored,
convinced the artifacts she had already uncovered were mere
clues to a larger, grander purpose.
It
was in the ancient city of Beijing, where Pandora unearthed
a strange artifact that had been buried amongst the dead.
It was a strange and worn statue, resembling some sort of
prehistoric animal. One of its emerald eyes had long fallen
out, while the remaining eye gleamed in curious delight. It
had large triangular ears, fangs that protruded from a delicate
mouth, and a long tail wrapped around four dainty paws. Pandora
was extraordinarily drawn to the figure. She placed it in
the center of her collection, where it could cast its gleaming
eye upon the smaller, but similar artifacts that perhaps represented
a forgotten species. In that instant, she received a vision:
Pandora was shown the ways of the ancient creature, which
she learned was once called the feline, or "cat".
With the artifact in her possession, Pandora could morph into
any size cat that once existed. Though she found benefits
to changing into the smaller, docile cat, which purred melodiously
and won the affections of people, Pandora particularly enjoyed
morphing into the larger felines, where she was saturated
with bloodlust and power. At those times, civilization feared
her, and she liked it!
Once
set on a path of torment and destruction, Pandora was plagued
by yet another vision: nightly, she dreamt of strong, mysterious
women, each with the power to do good and evil. They called
to her, asking her to join them. Uncertain of where to turn,
Pandora struggled with her desires. She knew that the only
way to learn to control her new gifts would be to search the
past itself for guidance from the girls who beckoned her,
the Spooky girls.
